About Me
i love words. i think they hold a lot of power - that words used wisely are transformative and words used carelessly or dishonestly are destructive. that they hold our culture, context, and creativity.
i love the mountains (in colorado presently) because they remind me that there is something bigger than me. that each moment is simultaneously all about me and my experience of it, and also not about me at all.
i live in denver. am invested in working in the intersections of social justice - because i believe that by working in the intersections we have the most power to change individual oppressions. i play the cello and believe art is the most powerful tool we have to effect change today.
How I would like to change the world:
i would like to see us embrace freedom - truly. freedom: the place where i am not a slave to my own wants and demands, but am free to serve others; the place where i engage in what it means to love - myself and others - the god image in each of us; the place where everyone's basic needs are met, so that we can more fully engage in our world;
so in order to be able to see this one day in the world, i work towards it in my own life, my relationships, and my community today.

Activate Tour Day 27: Detroit, MI - Midnorth Regional Gathering 1

Alicia (from Chicago) and i are working in a coffee shop in Detroit this morning...the Regional Gathering in Detroit is beautiful! we had some great conversations about big-picture, institutional oppression and how that ends up effecting our individual lives. we also had some of the best conversation i've heard yet in FWT about allyship and what it means to partner with communities that are most effected by individual oppressions. what does it mean for older folks to support youth-driven work? w… Continue

Activate Tour Day...?: Detroit, MI Mideast Regional Gathering 1

the road is long! and beautiful! i spent a couple of days back in denver last week and then it was on to minneapolis - there are some amazing people in minneapolis! the street team there is working to get off the ground and has a ton of energy. that was so great to see...

i flew into detroit last night for the Detroit regional gathering - looking forward to spending time with Michigan street team folks tonight and tomorrow and the Golden Gate cafe and the Phoenix Cafe - nothing like tea, food,… Continue

Activate Tour Day 15: Cleveland, OH to Cincinnati, OH

I met up with Angela Orr in Cleveland, OH yesterday and had a great conversation! two things that i walked away from that conversation with:
1) Angela asked about other folks in her state and nearby states that she could connect with as she builds local street team work. A seemingly simple question, but later when talking with Michelle about the meet-up realized how wise and profound of Angela that was - to get connected, build a network of relationships, build accountability and support, and le… Continue

Activate Tour Day 10: Northeast Regional Gathering

What a beautiful day with beautiful people! Scott, Casey, Jay B, Shawna, Jeff, Dan of Philly, Sheppard, Laura, and myself spent the morning talking about FWT work, understanding oppression, what a member-led movement looks like, and how we work for systemic change. A walk in the woods and stuffed zucchini topped off the day.

Activate Tour Day 9: Philly to Binghamton, NY

i just arrived at shawna and jeff's house for the northeast regional gathering - it is beautiful here with the leaves changing and hills and hills of trees. Jay just arrived a bit ago and i can smell dinner cooking - i love the FWT community and look forward to the time we will have this weekend to build relationships, share skills & thought, and support our continued activation.

i've been in philly for the last two days - wednesday talking about FWT with college students and social workers… Continue

Hey Seth.
We're trying to get ready for the Fort Collins Activate booth and I was looking to get more details.
Also, one of our three now has plans, but I am fairly certain I can get someone else to help.
My number is 303.915.9429.
Thanks for the help
Mica

That's the slightly tricky part, I'm still looking for help. Not many other Vegas members are active though. I've sent messages to everyone I can, so hopefully I have another name soon.

Hey, I'm a part of the Las Vegas team and I was wondering what info you have on the upcoming show there, and the activate booth that will be set up there. I'm down to do it, but we still need one more person on it though I think.

Hey Seth!
Some of us up in Fort Collins would definitely be interested in running an activate booth.
Thanks

Hey seth!
I jsut finished reading all the PDF's you ahd on the organizers group and am still unsure about how to run monthly meetings. Do i go over each section every month or do we just apply what we talked about at the first one to all the activities we do in the future.

Also I need to find out a way to contact you more readily so I can get details about how you wish to be recognized in my Eagle Project and what-not
