About Me
Born and raised in Alburquerque, NM, I have a special place in my heart for green chile, mountains that turn the color of watermelon at sunset, dry heat, and phone numbers with the area code '505.'

I became politicized while a teenager and later got active in radical politics as well as local community organizing, including fighting the construction of a road through an indigenous sacred site on 'Burque's west side, documenting police brutality, publishing a radical campus news magazine, coordinating anti-war and global justice work, and participating in miriad other projects, organizations and campaigns.

For several years, I've been deeply involved in the struggle of the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW), a grass-roots worker-led organization of mostly Haitian, Latino and Mayan Indian immigrant farmworkers based in SW Florida.

Now living in Denver, I'm active in Coloradans For Immigrant Rights, Colorado Jobs with Justice and the Denver Fair Food Committee as well as on the national Steering Committee of the Student/Farmworker Alliance. When not campaigning against Chipotle Mexican Grill for its stubborn and hypocritical refusal to address the human rights crisis faced by farmworkers who pick tomatoes in Florida, I'm trying to learn Spanish and wishing I would spend more time reading, cooking and writing.

Hi Robert, oh I hear you on the shyness because that was me at the entire conference. Oddly, I was a little more relaxed at work than usual. It was really fun getting to know you more and hearing your thoughts. You always have a place to stay if you come to California for any work or vacation!! I hope this finds you well!

Hey Robert. I finally found you. How are you doing? Thank you so much for letting us stay at the church last week for the FWT Conference. You're an awesome person and I wish we had more time to stay and hang out. Denver is such an awesome place and I can see why you decided to stay. I liked talking to you about immigrant rights and other issues and glad I sat in your session about the Immokalee Farmworkers. After talking to you, I really want to see if I can network with other organizations in my area dedicated to the cause. This may end up turning into my Masters Thesis/Project for grad school in the future. So what's been going on in your neck of the woods the past few days?

Hi Robert, thank you for hosting the IE Street Team at the Church. I still think we needed to use the space for a dance off, or something crazy, but perhaps next time :) I wish we had more time to get to know you and your story - I was really interested in your knowledge about immigrant workers. Breakfast was thought provoking. I am also still curious as to what specifically motivated you to move from NM to Colorado. I know it couldn't have been to win Chilli contests with secret NM red pepper (or was it chilli powder?) ;-) I hope this finds you well.

Rob,

With the Fight With Tools national conference fast approaching at the end of the year, we are still in need to host the close to 200 Street Team members from across the country coming to the Denver area. If you can house just one person, it would be a great help to me, the conference and Street Teamers across the country.

Incoming street teams are allowed to bring up to three members to the conference and we are asking if you can host up to three members from December 29th-31st. Currently, we are only about halfway to our matching our need so any help is greatly appreciated.

If you can house fellow street team members, you will make new friends and get aid to help cover expenses as well! If you have any questions about this opportunity, please message me back on FWT or send me an email at bradybond007@yahoo.com. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!

As you probably know, Fight With Tools is hosting a national conference at the end of the year. The conference will bring close to 200 Street Team members from across the country to the Denver area…and that is where we need your help.

To cut costs for the conference, we are looking for generous Denver Street Teamers to house our incoming friends. Street teams are allowed to bring up to three members to the conference and we are asking if you can host up to three members from December 29th-31st. Can you lend us your couches (or even your floors?)

What is in it for you, you may ask. Well, if you house fellow street team members, you not only make new friends, but you get to attend the conference as well! If you have any questions about this opportunity, please message me back on FWT or send me an email at bradybond007@yahoo.com. Thanks and keep up the good fight!
