Punk is an interesting thing. Personally I tag the word "punk" to anything that is separated from mainstream, morally right, and constructive/expressive. Movies, songs, books, people, even locations can be punk. But the thing is, most people have bad impressions of "punk" because of examples they have seen, opinions of others that they have clung to( who got it from somewhere themselves) or just following the crowd. I think that the fault of "punk" usually being put into negative context is that the weak and the feeble of will, the confused, the addicted, the broken, are classifiable as punk where people see them as simply out of the ordinary( which is a foundation of "punk"). Someone who is punk( in my opinion) must be out of the ordinary, as long as ordinary holds imperfection. But someone who is out of the ordinary dosnt have to be "punk". Right? I like to think of punk as one of those perfect ideals, perfect ideas and perfect paths with imperfect followers. To me " punk" is simply a reflection of both mans desire for improvement, mixed with mans refusal to accept anything less than the very best life has to offer. To me, something is punk once is has made the decision to not conform, to not settle, and to never embodie someone else. Thats it. Dress is nothing. decisions about drugs are nothing, and personall views are nothing, because everyone is different and one mans right is another mans wrong. My question is ... How does one decide what is right when he has a mandate to not follow others. if one disaggrees that killing innocent women is wrong, is he wrong or am i wrong in saying he is. Thoughts please :-)
