About Me: I am 18, a writer, a martial artist, a lover, a friend, a son and younger brother as well as the only black kid in a white family, the only white kid in his old community, a dread-locked Hungarian descended from African slaves who now wants to do something, anything, to change the world i am living in. I left my high school to attend an early college, leaving my city of Pittsburgh and a girlfriend of 2 years, hoping that things would change and that i would be more than a grade, be able to use my talent to get to know the world. Nothing changed, it is still the same. i do not want my children to feel as cheated as i do by the way things work. i believe in creativity, freedom and the need to be aware. i hope this is the first step.

How I would like to change the world:: I want to end slavery. human trafficking, sex slavery, sweat shops, all of it i wish to be an abolitionist

Tools I Have: I am a capable writer, have a community in several churches around Pittsburgh (i lived there most of my life and still consider it to be my "home") i know martial arts and have experience doing manual labor (restoring old schools, community gardens, working in homeless shelters, etc) as well as a passion to see his happen.

Tools I Need: someone to direct me, to say "here, go this way," or "this is the guy you need to talk to." with so many programs it is hard to get a good foothold in any area.

I'm here in Denver reporting on local African communities, and I recently had the chance to meet with a former slave from Sudan named Francis Bok. He is now an anti-slavery activist and wrote a book about his life. If you get the chance, find his book at the library. It's called Escape from Slavery: The True Story of My Ten Years in Captivity and My Journey to Freedom in America. He's a remarkable dude.
