There will be a Flobots concert on May 18 at The Rave in milwaukee. Anyone planning on coming? I don't know if we could get some sort of thing set up there or not and have it be the first gathering of a tentative Milwaukee Street Team, buit it would be awesome to meet some fellow people from here!
So I am a high school student in Milwaukee and am trying to start a street team up here since I didn't notice one in the listing for all of them. Hopefully, this will begin in the next couple of months and continue on, growing larger in the summer when I can arrange a more community effort. I am a senior and we have just re-established the school's Amnesty International branch so I am planning on trying to get the group to join this site and use it, specifically when we are trying to help out in all of our Urgent Action letters and other things that we do. Ass me as a friend and I will try to keep everyone updated on the progress of this Milwaukee Street Team and hopefully we can start having events in the summer. If you are in the Milwaukee area and are interested in helping set this up, please leave me a message in my inbox. Thanks everyone from Wisconsin, as well as Alicia for keeping us updated on all of the regional events and information!
From Jonny 5: "The Activate Tour is an opportunity to re-energize and reorient ourselves. There will be a strong focus on laying the foundation for street teams to take action, including workshops and trainings on basic organizing strategies, grassroots fundraising, and conflict resolution."
My name is Alicia and I'm from the Chicago Street Team. I'm also the rep for the Mid-North region. I included the region info below for your reference.
I know there hasn’t been much activity lately in both the site and some local teams. Fortunately, FWT National has been working really hard to re-launch the site and our organization as a whole after the “pause” we took since the beginning of the year. You probably already noticed some of the changes being made to the site. They are also working on a new curriculum that I’m confident will help street teams become more active. No more wondering what we are supposed to do :-D. It’s all so exciting! Even more exciting are the regional gatherings that will be taking place soon. Our region is schedule for October. We will have training for organizers and members! Stay tune for more details.
Also, could the organizer of this group please contact me? I’d like to start working with you and start coordinating for our regional gathering.
I’m looking forward to working more closely with you. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns....or just to say hi :-D

alive yes, but inactive at the moment. hopefully that will change soon. i know for a fact that there are enough willing people in wisconsin to make this happen. It's just a matter of finding them and keeping them informed of our activities. basically we need more people. the more people we have, the louder our collective voice. the louder our voice, the greater our influence.
Welcome to Fight With Tools! as you can probably tell, there is a slight lack of activity, but I and a couple other members are working to organize events in the area. if you really do want to help us out, the biggest thing you can do is spread the word. Let people know that we want to start making a difference. if all goes well, we should be able to get events planned out for the summer.
that would be awesome. but if your concern is that not enough people in your area are members, try and convince more people to join. if we get more people involved we'll have a louder voice. and once we have people more people, then we will worry about larger meetings.
I am in Madison, so i can try and recruit members here (shouldn't be a problem considering how progressive Madison is). once i've done that i'll try and hook up with some existing organizations or volunteer groups.
Remember, YOUR VOICE IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL TOOLS YOU HAVE! tell people about fight with tools. tell them we want change. and tell them we could use the help, because every silent voice is a part of the problem.
I'm (was) the organizer for the Chicago ST...transitioning now to the NSTC. Let me know if you guys need any help with anything.
Also, Katz, you mentioned you need a good cause to focus your efforts on. As you may know, our national theme (or focus) for the year is sustainability. For now, we've been focusing on volunteering opportunities in the Chicago area. I know one of our goals is to partner with other organizations and artists. I'm sure more members will become more active (since there will be more to do) once we establish those relationships.
Again, feel free to contact me if you have any questions. If I don't have the answers I'll make sure to point you in the right direction. I'm going to be in Denver in a couple weeks meeting with representatives of the other regions. If you guys have any questions for them or feedback, please let me know.
