Hey Denver! It is not too late to RSVP to the ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGIONAL GATHERING in Tucson, AZ on Nov. 6-7! I would love to see everybody there, even across the long distance. If you think you can make it, please send me a message! There's more information about the Rocky Mountain Meet Up in the Events section of the website.

Hey Denver et al,

The regional gathering is slowly growing closer, and I would like to start getting a rough guess of how many Coloradans are going. So as to avoid cluttering up this page, if you are planning on going--or if you need any information about it--it's posted as an Event. Please RSVP or message me!

Event change: On July 25, stand in solidarity with the Iranian people
Join this unprecedented wave of global citizen activism for the people of Iran.

Join me in Boulder on Saturday, July 25th, 2009 to support and echo the voices of millions of Iranians who are demanding their civil and human rights and in condemnation of the human rights abuses being committed by the Iranian government.

July 25: Global Day of Action for Human Rights in Iran - look for more details regarding Denver's rally!

(July 8, 2009) Human rights activists are organizing a coordinated Global Day of Action on July 25, 2009 to demand respect for the human rights of the Iranian people and to demonstrate worldwide solidarity with the civil rights movement in Iran. Major human rights organizations have sponsored the event.

Around the world, people will gather in solidarity with the Iranian people following over a month of intensified state repression against citizens peacefully demonstrating for their rights. Many have been murdered in the streets, many hundreds have been beaten and injured, and at least 2,000 are thought to have been detained.

The Global Day of Action is a not affiliated with any partisan political agenda, and is aimed at securing the internationally recognized rights of the Iranian people.

The organizers believe that while political questions facing Iran can only be resolved by the Iranian people themselves, the violent repression of their internationally guaranteed human rights are of concern to people all around the world.

The Global Day of Action is organized around the following core demands:

1. That the international community uphold the Iranian people’s human rights as a matter of international concern, and that the UN Secretary General should immediately appoint a delegation to travel to Iran to investigate the fate of prisoners as well as many disappeared persons;
2. The immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, including journalists, students, and civil society activists;
3. An end to state-sponsored violence, and accountability for crimes committed; and
4. Freedom of assembly, freedom of expression, and freedom of press as guaranteed by the Iranian constitution and Iran’s obligations under international covenants it has signed.

Sponsors of the Global Day of Action so far include: Shirin Ebadi, 2003 Nobel Peace Laureate; Iranian League for Defense of Human Rights (LDDHI); International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran; Human Rights Watch, Reporters without Borders; Amnesty International USA; Nobel Women’s Initiative; Omid Advocates for Human Rights; The PeaceJam Foundation.

Hey Denver!! While the situation in Iran is slowly fading from public notice, things are not getting better. Arrests, beatings, and murders/executions continue! We need to keep this in the public eye--there is lots to be done to help in small ways. We need to remind those who surround us of the sacrifices that Iranians are giving every day in hopes that they will get their most basic human rights back. I want to organize a rally or something...check http://iran.whyweprotest.net/usa-central-mountain/10715-looking-plan-rally-denver.html#post34716

Look in other forums too while you're there...lot's of ways to make a difference online.

Hi friends! Myself and ProVets would love to see you all at two really exciting events coming up:

The first one is this Saturday, May 2 at Primitive Soul Tattoo in Lakewood, off Wadsworth and Eastman. 1pm-9pm.

ART FUNK is a live art/graffiti show where all artwork is auctioned off to benefit Denver and JeffCo public schools. We are working with a few organizations to participate as well. Not only are we going to be helping kids through a number of avenues, but there will be BEER! And a raffle for $200 worth of tattoo work. Bring a can of food for Fight with Food as well.

Our second event, the biggie, is the official ProVets launch/unveiling event at the Walnut Room in Denver on Thursday, May 7. Doors at 7, $5 cover with proceeds going to ProVets.

A number of local bands, including an acoustic set by our own Jeff Englehart, will be featured and are graciously lending their time and talent. We're VERY excited about this and hope to see you all. Cash donations will definitely not be turned down and will go towards materials and upcoming events. And of course, ProVets TSHIRTS BY DAN.

If you have questions, contact myself (303-506-7300) or Dan (720-206-9570) or drop us a line here on FWT.

THANK YOU ALL for your support!

I see my other flier is still below, here's one for ART FUNK :)
