Hey L.A. I'm a student at Occidental College and I'm coordinating a trip to New Orleans over the summer to work on a sustainability farm in the 9th Ward. It's a program called the Food Justice Summer run through the YCCA. The website is http://www.schoolatblairgrocery.blogspot.com/
If any college students are interested let me know and I'll give you more info
I am the regional conservation organizer for the Beyond Coal campaign here in LA. You can reach me at chrissy . scarborough @ sierraclub.org
We just had a planning meeting and we will begin the work of organizing very quickly. If you are interested you can check out our website at sierraclub.org/coal/ca.
I just started working on this campaign and would love any support you could offer. It's crazy that most of us don't know where our energy comes from, and that although this city claims to be so progressive it is outsourcing its pollution to other states. Mayor Villaraigosa has claimed LA will move beyond coal by 2020, but getting to that reality will require real political and social will. Our coal plants are on Navajo land and every day we burn ~ 12,000 pounds of coal.
Let me know if you are interested and New American, I am really interested in working with Fight with Tools in any way you think would be synergistic.

Hey L.A. I think Christina has a good idea. Decreasing our dependence on coal and fossil fuels is important in combating global climate change. Would the group be interested in doing something like this? Let me know if you need any assistance. As part of the National Street Team Council, I will be happy to help in any way I can. Are there any other projects that the group would be interested in doing?
Also, in the near future will be doing a West Coast conference where Seth will be coming out to help give us some structure and some new tools to better organize and get our message out. Let me know if you're interested so we can get this going. Hope everything is going well. By the way, is there an organizer for the group?
Hey I work with the Sierra Club on the Beyond Coal Campaign. Did you know that 44% of our energy comes from coal and that our coal plants put out 30 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere every year? I am working to build power to end our reliance on this dirty fuel right here in Los Angeles and if you want to get involved check out our website and get in touch with me if you want to help change the world.
Hello All! I am the West Coast Representative for the National Street Team Council. Please let me know if there is anything I or the council can help you with. We will be more than happy to help. I also work out of L.A. so if anyone needs to meet up for anything or if you would like me stop by for a meeting let me know. Hope to talk to you all soon.
Hey guys. Is anyone interested in getting together to brainstorm ways that we can try to help? I feel that it is our job to make the world a better place and help people in need and this is a perfect opportunity to do just that.
