I feel like maybe this will work. Everyone in my school has a different cause they are fighting for. While some people may be for human rights, others shoot for animal rights. Everyone always bickers over which is more important. I wanna create solidarity for these groups, and my simple idea is t-shirts. I'm considering requesting that people have make a t-shirt with three quotes on it. One being, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". ~Voltaire, and the other being, "If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all." ~Noam Chomsky. These two quotes will represent a sort of agreement between every group that we believe in our right to exercise our freedom of speech. Now the third quote would be one about whatever injustice you are fighting against, whether it be to free mumia, or end the unjust treatment of animals in slaughterhouses. Personally, I'm for different social justices and I'm also anti-iraq war. So i would use this quote. "Justice without force is powerless; force without justice is tyrannical" - Blaise Pascal. If you understand this, please say so, and if you don't ask some questions. I also wanna know if you think this is a good idea or not.

Sounds like a great idea to me. I'm not really sure how to gracefully place three quotes onto a single shirt, but if it can be done then I think it should be. They would be a polite reminder that each opinion, despite how different, is valid and important. To me, this sounds like a means of unification, which is a concept that many people have lost sight of. I understand what you're saying. I say go for it.
The only problem is the three quotes thing, but I couldn't decide which one was better b/w the Voltaire one and the Noam Chomsky one. And that's what i was going for, the whole solidarity b/w these different causes.
They are both powerful quotes, but I would go with the Voltaire. The whole "people we despise" seems like it's continuing to acknowledge the divide.
I agree with Alayna that the Voltaire quote is the best. maybe you could have that on one side, and then have the quote of your choice on the other. That would still give the whole "different but unified" thing and make it easier to arrange. long as your willing to scratch the second quote. And I think its a great idea btw
yeaa i'm totally fine w/scratching the second quote, I like the Voltaire one more anyways =]
How about both? one on the back the other the front. The last quote seemed to be alitte off topic. I once some one who was protetesting the freedom of speach... It seemed very messed up.
well thats the thing, while it is a protest for free speech, the third quote will be different for everybody's shirt. It's supposed to bring solidarity b/w different causes on the fact that even if our opinions differ, we are all allowed to say what we want to say.
I personaly like Blaise Pascal one, But for your idea I'd go with Voltaires. It really fits with the notion of banding everyone's beliefs together.
well what i'd do is have voltaire on the front and Blaise Pascal on the back, or vice versa
