I posted this on a different discussion as a reply but I decided to make it a conversation in itself. Now I might have just joined and never even been to a meeting but from what i've been reading about "The best part is that these are supposed to be very interactive and hands-on. Expect scavenger hunts! :-D"-Alicia. Now come on people "sustainability bubbles" and all these silly little things won't bring revolution or any grand-scale change. While I think we should still do the little improvements why aren't we out there making speeches, marching, putting up posters or banners, or working at something that will get our cause really noticed? Don't you want to be able to walk down the street and see a sign of real change? We CAN do it, we just haven't taken the action yet. We need to take this structure and expand it, to make it great, not just for our sake but for the sake of those who need us. We came here to make a difference, so lets make a difference, one the whole world will see.

After hearing my opinion what do you think?

I love to speak...if you need a speaker, contact me. I have been teaching at community college for about 6 years and I do feel like I make a little bit of a difference in some peoples lives but I'm ready to expand.
I totally agree. However, I think the main reason we see less "active" activism is the fact that there are so many issues and fronts to take on, and no clear direction to combat them on a singular basis. I believe the biggest issue confronting the FWT community is that it primarily seems to exist to open eyes and let people see that there are alternatives to following the majority. FWT is more of a kick off for us to come together and disseminate the ideas of Social Justice, and how to achieve the America that we see only in our mind's eye. In short, many here are looking for a leader, not realizing that taking the step to join this community is very much a call to become a leader within their community. Fight with Tools could benefit us more by providing specific calls to actions and resources to achieve our political and social ideals. That being said, don't let this be the only site you come to for ideas or direction. Check out Get out into your community and find out what the issues you have locally that need changed. The difference won't be made here...it will be made on the streets of our communities and cities.....enough of my rambling...
I think that this is the purpose of Fight With Tools. Its not your average social-networking website. Its a place to gain the tools and motivations needed to both speak out about change and to enact change. If used properly and not treated as another mass opiate to make us feel happy pretending we're doing good, there is great potential. The reason we should be here is because we are passionate about the world around us, and want to share and spread this message to others. This website is the greatest tool in our fight, it is the tool that initially gives us the motivation we need because we see that their are others like us, all around and also it gives us the ideas, organization, structure and support we need to carry out change. You're right that our journey can't end here, its important that we take our message to the streets, literally or not and we actually begin to enact the change we wish to see in our communities
