A. Please be impressed I managed to do this. It actually took me two tries, but since we have 15 minutes to edit our comments, I did it! Well, I'm about to click save and see if I did...
B. Mike, I'll definitely look you up if I'm in Boston.
C. Same goes for everybody else (just not Boston). Odds are good I'll get to visit people in Philly, Chicago, and Atlanta. YAY!
D. Beautiful and genuine just about sums it up. I'm so glad I was a part of it!
I'm blown away, Sarah!! Could it be......a tumblin' tumbleweed?????

I thought of the thing I wanted to say the other night at Paula's and Roman's that I heard on Amy Goodman's interview with Utah Phillips: They were talking about Martin Luther King, and how he didn't exist in a vacuum...they talked about a school that he went to, along with Rosa Parks and many others. It was a school dreamed up (not sure of the official verb there) by Myles Horton (when he was 27!) who believed that if a group of people in the community have a problem, if they come together in a circle and spend some days telling their life stories, they will eventually emerge with a solution. So, he said, the school was set up to do that - food was prepared, along with places to stay - this was in Tennessee. Anyway, that's not EXACTLY what we did this past week, but there were some similarities, and I thought that simple, but radical premise might be hopeful/helpful for us as we think about organizing in our local communities.

The interview is at http://www.democracynow.org/shows/2009/1/1, and the part about Highlander School and Myles Horton (there are 2 GREAT stories I didn't tell..) are from 30:15 to 34:35 in the hour long interview. The whole interview is one I could listen to over and over -- I really appreciated the encouragement Dr. Harding gave us to go and find our elders - this interview made me think of that too.

Ya'll are beautiful --
Hey Kristine I have a book on Myles Horton and the Highlander School if you'd like to borrow it. I like the idea of telling our stories. Maybe we could have some casual meet ups in Denver and do that. I'll try to listen to the story, maybe while I'm making dinner for our meeting on Wednesday. See ya!
I would love to borrow the book - I wonder if it's the one Utah Phillips recommended.. Seeds of Change or something...

Let's do the story telling!! I would love that! We'll have to talk about it at the next meeting....thanks for taking the comment to the logical end - action!
I feel like I went to Denver alone and left with 90 more members of my family. I love all of you!! Thank you for you love, compassion, openness and ability to show the sweetest part of humanity... I am forever changed by this experience and feel more complete. At peace... I know where I need to be now. Thanks to you< My new family members> for helping me learn more about myself then I knew before. This is the movement I have been waiting for my whole entire life!!
I totally agree with Lesley here. Perfect words Bessie^^
thank you all so much for coming to the conference. when we started planning this several months ago, i had no idea how it would turn out. each person there brought something unique and special to our time together. i have learned a lot from you and it is with great humility that i thank you for your work and your friendship. peace, shannon
if you couldnt tell, i actually completed my mission: i caught a tumbleweed outside of D&B!!!! the airport didnt hassle me at all!! it mad it home to boston in mostly one piece!!!

you all worked so hard, and it really means alot to me, thank you!!!
i wasn't able to make it for lack of money for a plane ticket.
There were so many people who couldn't make it. I was supposed to have 2 other people staying at my house who registered, but then had their travel plans fall through. I know I felt their absence...and I knew that they represented a lot of others like yourself. Hopefully next time around, with more notice, we can raise some funds. Wish you could have been here.
I feel exactly the same way Mike! I feel extremely privileged to have been a part of this conference and I feel like I've learned so much from everyone. Thank you so much for such an unforgettable and amazing experience. I hope to build the same passion, love, and dedication at my local street team. I love you all!!! Thanks again for everything! =)
We luv you
