I'm calling on all of you to help MAKE HISTORY on Tuesday.
I'm calling on my friends who are voting third party to reconsider and know that WE NEED YOUR VOTE now more than ever. If we were in the same room, I'd beg ya. If it were any other election, I'd tell you stand your ground and vote your conscious, but not this time. This time is different... we have a chance to MAKE HISTORY, and set the wheels of real change in motion. It's not about a single candidate or party, it's bigger than Obama... we all know that... Tuesday... help us make MAKE HISTORY and let's open some doors in Washington back to the people...
how many ppl do we have in the military? we only have a small fraction of that in the peace corps...i believe military should be strictly defensive...forien relationships should be purely diplomatic...and we need to spread knowledge and technology that will help us all...did you know that the internet(an application for the easier use of its predecessor ApraNet) was origionally designed to be free...ApraNet was used by top colleges to relay massive amounts of databased knowledge quickly and efficently...
but its funny how we've bastardized every great invention in this world...sharpened rocks, cattle farming, automobiles, race, the cures for cancer and aids(oh wait i wasnt supposed to say that)...i hope toast doesn't go down that road
Every election we hear the mantra that this is the "MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER" and it never really is. It's just another scare tactic to try to convince people to vote for your guy.
Well as long as we keep electing Democrats and Republicans, we'll get the same crap we've gotten for the last 50 years. It's time for real change to begin and it begins slow & steady with the third parties. Have true courage to stand up for what is really right and don't cave in to a pragmatic decision that won't really solve anything.
I don't like convincing people of anything for the most part. It needs to be their choice and for their own reasons why they do something. I can only educate you on what I know and tell you why I am doing a certain thing. But don't take anyone's opinion before you research and find that it works for you. In my opinion you should research and find who or which party most closely falls along the lines of what you believe in and then vote for them.
Well i have and that's Obama, but i was only looking at the parties i thought had a chance of winning. That sounds bad but i didn't want to place a vote knowing they didn't have a chance to win.
It's funny you mention all that, because in telling people to vote Third Party, it's the same propaganda almost word for word that third parties put out every year.
I know it must seem like a mantra, but look around you and open your eyes to the facts that are going on around this world and what people are dealing with in this country-- and think back your ENTIRE lifetime (I dont know how old you are) but there is no doubt that this is the most important election ever in our lifetimes. Do something that will make the third party fight easier next time.
I have been thinking this whole idea of civic engagment, democracy and voting for several weeks now (since it is the bulk of my work). At times I feel so angry and frustrated. We can easily look back in our history (we only have to go back four years) to see ways that voters are disenfrachised, tricked or completely pushed out of our electoral process. But I also know that at this point, NOT voting, does not make a statement to anyone. If and when this election is messed up, we need to be there documenting the stories of real people, taking to the streets and demanding election reform. Our system IS flawed. But in my opinion, silence supports the status quo.
If you are voting, RSVP on the event page for November 4th!!
