I have talked about this with my friends and know i want to know what you think. Is porn demeaning to women? I mean they get paid to do it and it keeps them feed and with houses but i can also see the part about now women are only seen as sex toys to be had then cast aside. Im kinda caught in the middle about this issue.

it's one in three women.
I can personally relate to at least four of the if's in that statement about why feminism is still necessary. Why do you believe that women are no longer discriminated against? How are women "the ones seperating yourselves from the rest of us?" If women "get over themselves" will women and men suddenly be paid equaly, as opposed to women getting paid .70 to a man's $1.00? Will I be able to walk down the street wearing whatever I desire to dress myself in that day without the constant fear of honks, whistles, unsolicited comments, and the threat of rape? If I get raped by a friend, after drinking, can I rest assured that I can go to the police, be treated with compassion, and know that a group of my fellow citizens will bring my rapist to justice?
Exactly. Sing it, sister.
look im not saying that women are never discriminated against, or saying its ok for a woman's pay to be less or that women deserve to live in fear of getting raped! what im saying is i dont think its necessary to spell women with a y or hate on women that dont choose to stand up for themselves because they see nothing wrong with it and enjoy being sexual! and i personally dont agree with the manifesto, how many people truly believe that a woman provoked it if they got beat, the only reason people question whether a woman got raped is because so many women have lied about it to get back at people, i know that a great majority of women who say they were, were, and they should be treated with compassion and the motherfucker that did it should be punished severly....i agree with that...i feel what your saying and your main cause, but i cannot jump onboard and say women as a whole are still treated like garbage or objectified
"objectify-
1. To present or regard as an object: "Because we have objectified animals, we are able to treat them impersonally" Barry Lopez.
2. To make objective, external, or concrete: thoughts objectified in art."
women arent being sold (except prostitutes...which IS objectifying to that specific woman)
women however are being presented as an object in commercials and advertisements and music videos and rap songs.....
im sorry, im going on a different train of thought right now, i could go on forever if i just type everything i think so im just gonna stop for now
:-) all in all im saying that where i do see problems that need to be fixed i cant agree with all of it
According to the FBI, more people fake their own deaths than falsely report rape. Why do you think that "the only reason people question whether a woman got raped is because so many women have lied about it to get back at people?"
Did I miss something? How did we get from "is porn degrading" to "do women fake rape"?

Hopefully no one wrote that porn leads to sexual assault...
he doesn't, that's the point. it was a reference back to the manifesto I posted prior.
I will first admit that I have not had a chance to read through the whole thread so I apologize to jump in right in the middle. I just want to say quickly, that sexism, unfortunately, is alive and well. I know this because men make sexual passes at me every day, and every day I have to chose if I am going to stand up for myself and put myself in danger or smile and pretend like I don't mind. I know this because four of my close friends have been raped, three have been physically beaten up for not conforming to gender stereotypes and almost every woman I know feels afraid or threaten over and over just because she is a woman. I consider myself a feminist, and I know that our times are better than my grandmothers, but there is no doubt that I am treated differently everyday because of my gender expression and gender identity.
Now that is so fd up that this is still going on. My wife has had her personal space violated nothing as far as rape but closer than she or I are comfortable with, she actually clocked the guy and he was just stunned. Then the manager where she was working sided with the guy and she walked right out of that job never to return(this was before I met her). It's a big problem with this world guys want to rule everything and get all babyish when someone says no. My wife will not go out alone (her choice) and in the outside chance she goes out with friends she will never let anyone buy her a drink, she knows woman that have been drugged at bars. It's a fight I dont have a answer for but I will stand up to ahole guys who view other humans as their property. You stay strong Shannon
No need to get offended what I wrote was just my personal thoughts on the topic. Just like I am pro-choice when it comes to abortion, I am also pro-choice when it comes to porn and other things that adults choose to do in the privacy of their own homes (not saying that abortion, and porn are even on the same level). When I said “a mild form of necrophilia”, I meant that, in terms of “porn” being emotionally dead. I understand that it may be difficult for some people for whatever reasons to find meaningful relationships, and if they choose other outlets to serve as a crutch, then that is none of my business. But, I think you would have to agree that in the long run, real love, friendship, or companionship is much more fulfilling. But, like I said before, “no need to get upset. Hope im not coming off as condescending…….
Porn doesn't have to be emotionally dead though. Like some said, it is used as a couple's aid in some cases.

As well, while sex with another person is better, it is part of human nature, especially male nature, to seek sexual release, which often cannot be serviced only through sex as often there isnt a willing partner available.

Plus, masturbation is healthy. Helps prevent prostate cancer in men.
