"Wounded Soldier Forced to Sleep in Car After Hotel Denies Him a Room"

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,416741,00.html

Just saw this and I thought I'd put it up here. Pretty ridiculous, no?

“I’m very, very angry. It’s discrimination. They would never get away with it if it was against someone of ethnic origin,”

The hotel says "It was company policy not to accept members of the armed forces as guests."

I'm just baffled by this.

Wasn't sure which forum this belonged in

Dude what the hell that's messed up!
That is insane. I am a little relieved that this was not in America, but still, that is just unexceptable. And insult to injury, he was travelling to plan his battle buddy's funeral!

What do you think,... should we come up with a corporate address for this hotel, and write them, and start a barrage of complaint mail addressing this disgraceful policy.
that sounds like a plan, because this is completely ridiculous.
Wow, that's so wrong. What exactly do they have against soilders? He was going to a funeral, he had an injury, and it was the middle of the fucking night. I would seriously spams that hotel's mail box if I knew the address/web address if I find it.
seeing... red... again... anger... rage... boiling... !!!!

That's so wrong. What kind of freaking hotel can establish policy not to accept members of the armed forces? What about drug dealers and crack whores? They okay? What about handicapped people? Can they turn away gay people? Why not refuse service to people with freckles? Mouth breathers? Anyone who looks like they have a low IQ? Where does the discrimination stop?

I'm not blowing this out of proportion... I just cannot believe these people. Who knows; maybe that's where Bin Laden is hiding out! No wonder we can't find the guy!
hey it sounds fucked up on the surface...but what is the reason for not accepting army personal? The simple receptionist making a mistake...Groupthink can get out of control very easily...I'm playing devil's advocate, and I personally would have let the solider stay there regardless of policy....but I'd like to know all the facts before I become righteous. just some food for thought...
It looks like that's where the policy came from ... "group think"...the article in the london times said the 'soft' policy was started because of some problems they'd had recently with guys from the local base (which this guy was not). The desk clerk should have used better judgement!!! I happen to work at a hotel & sometimes have to break our (pretty strict) "no locals" policy, say if someone comes in drunk and doesn't want to drive for instance. YOU HAVE GOT TO USE YOUR HEAD!!!
fox news is crap, it probably never happened. but if it did, it shouldnt have. soldiers deserve more then that. they deserve a night in a hotel at least...
follow the link to foxnews, then thier link to the times in London, it really happened.
