...And along with it, I think all the organizations that are specifically targeting a demographic of a certain minority should aswell.
The NAACP did ground-breaking work of desegregation in the early 1900's, but it's existance nowadays only does one thing: Reinforces the idea that African Americans are different. All the organizations for specific minorities may seem to be doing good, but honestly, all they are doing is reinforcing that they are different--ultimately defeating their purpose of fighting for equality.
If everyone is to be equal, the NAACP cannot exist.
I'm not so sure about the NAACP, never thought that should be taken out, but as a white women who grew up in a primarily black city (baltimore) i have experienced much racism against white people. I do think if there can be a national association of colored people. We should have one for white people and single parents. They now have Equal opportunity laws that get used against employers all the time, I've seen it happen. I'm with you though, a single white mom doesn't get nearly as much help from the government as a single black mom and it really pisses me off some days...
