Flobots.org 4th Monday: Documentary & Syringe Exchange

Flobots.org invites you to an evening of discussion about documentary filmmaking, social change, and syringe exchange. For the past year and a half, Improbable Pictures has documented the Underground Syringe Exchange of Denver and the above ground struggle to lift the paraphernalia ban in the State of Colorado .

March 22nd we will be joined by Kyle Harris and Kevin Price of Improbable Pictures, members of the Underground Syringe Exchange of Denver, Lisa Raville from the HarmReduction Action Center , outreach worker Andrew McClure, and others to discuss the ongoing process of using documentary filmmaking to tell the story of the fight to legalize syringe exchange in Colorado.

From the moving stories of injection drug users struggling to stop the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C to the ongoing political struggles at the city and state level, the evening will cover syringe exchange 101, how to create social change on this issue, and how U.S.E.D. the documentary will bring the social impact of Denver and Colorado’s struggle onto the national and international political landscape.

By the end of the evening, you will be armed with the knowledge and stories to support syringe exchange from an educated perspective and to aid the struggle for legalizing exchange programs.

At the end of the evening, you will be asked to make a donation to Improbable Pictures to aid them in their ongoing documentary efforts. Additionally, you will be given other opportunities to support the documentary and the Underground Syringe Exchange of Denver.
