I grew at a conference recently. As much as one can reasonably grow in a weekend. Not in largess or stature or net worth, but certainly in terms of understanding. In every economics or business course probably on the planet, students learn that to…Continue

Today we finally had a rather large amount of snow hit our town. Normally we've had an inch or 5 for the past 2 months but this year it strangely waited so long. Well I had to go out and shovel. I'm not about to complain, I like it. It makes me feel good to do something that helps. Maybe that's why I love my job. I'm just a busser at a near-by restaurant but I like when they ask me questions or just jest with me if I'm cleaning a table next to a couple or giving them more water. Ever since my step-dad and friend died I've had a hard time just admitting it. I mean yeah when I'm alone or with my best friend I let slip how hard it's been. I've tried so hard to be strong for my 2 little sisters,5 and 10, and especially for my mother. I've tried to be okay so she doesn't have to be. So she can be human. But I got relied on to much so I wasn't really prepared for when she got better but still relied on me heavily. So I got a job. I dropped out of school and am looking for a second job…

My girl and I were talking last night about Occupy Wall Street and we could not figure out what the main purpose is. We have been watching it unfold since it started 5 days after our daughter was born and we still can’t find what the main purpose is. It seems that there are a great number of people that are willing to support a movement for change but what is that change they are seeking?
We have heard terms like the 99%, the 1%, big government and so on but I think we should be looking in a different direction.
Under the Constitution, a Wage is not taxable. Therefore the income tax is not just. Under our constitution a company’s profit is what is taxable by the government. I would say that we should move our mind set to not attacking those people who have actually worked for their money but rather look to those companies that make, say 41.2 billion dollar profits in the third quarter alone, and tax them accordingly.
There are…

I always enjoyed reading when I was young, sometimes to the point that it would get me in trouble. I would ignore teachers in class when they were trying to teach me actual facts so that I could focus more on the fictional scenarios in my favorite author's books. I would stay up late and miss the bus in the morning, sometimes purposely. In my youth I had even gone as far as stealing books that I wanted bad enough but couldn't afford. It was so much easier to live in a book than it was in real life. In the books people didn't just have problems, they overcame them. That second concept was always such a strong inspiration and I could never get enough.
These days I don't read as much, it's more movies and video games. The less I read, and focus more on these things, the more I feel like a brain-dead zombie. I've seen so much junk on television that I'm afraid to read new books for fear that they're going to be filled with the same mindless garbage.
It's…
